Materials needed:

Books or magazines

Scissors

Cut out 5 different shapes you like (reminder: a shape is a 2D object, anything that is closed. So it doesn't just have to be a circle, square, triangle, etc. It could be a leaf, amoeba, or something abstracted. It just needs to be closed.)

Cut out 5 different colors you like

Cut out 5 different pieces of text you like

Afterwards, I gave you each a mat board (like a small frame). You needed to arrange your collage pieces in that frame. We didn't glue them down until you found a composition that you liked best. You need to use all 15 pieces. You don't have to fit all 15 pieces in one collage, but you should use all your collage pieces. This means you'll probably make multiple collages.

Once we played around with that, we took our drawings from last class. You should've filled a page with drawings of one thing you're afraid of. You should've drawn them in different sizes, shapes, and styles. YOUR DRAWINGS SHOULD FILL THE PAGE. If they don't, then you'll need to finish your drawings first.

Cut out each of those drawings. Repeat the same exercise with the mat board frame. Arrange all these drawings in the frame until you find a composition you like. Is there anything you need to add or take away to make it look better? Once you find a composition you like, then glue them down on a piece of paper.
